Implementing the wrong website design can have a tragic impact on a webmaster. This is especially true if your competition has implemented a really good design. For this reason alone, you need to keep on top of the latest and most effective web design tips for webmasters.

The Importance of Matching Text Color With Website’s Background Color
Choosing a text color that doesn’t match your background color makes it hard for people to read your website. This is especially important when you have a lot of text. You don’t want your readers to walk away with sore eyes. So make sure you choose a text color that won’t strain their eyes.
-
Stop Using Complicated Features Like Java Clock
Although you may think that advanced features is clever, you’re wrong. Features like Java Clock won’t improve your website. Instead, these features actually complicate your website. There are also some browsers that can’t support these features. When this happens you lose out on potential visitors who simply move on to websites they can use. For this reason, you should always choose to retain your website’s compatibility over embracing technology.
-
Stop Using Pop-up Windows
Many websites are using pop-up windows nowadays. This is another common mistake that you’ll want to avoid. They simply annoy your readers when they suddenly appear as they’re involved in what they’re reading. You don’t want to distract them in this way. Instead, you want to do everything you can to encourage them to read your website.
-
Include Fewer Advertisements
The more advertisements you place on your website, the longer it’ll take to load. Sometimes it’s difficult to reduce the number of advertisements because they generate money. However, readers won’t wait around for your website to load these advertisements. Instead, they’ll simply move on to visit another website that loads faster.
-
Hide Your Website Counter
Although it’s nice to use a counter to see how many people have visited your website, you don’t need to share this information with all of your website’s visitors. This is especially true when you don’t have a lot of visitors. When those who do visit your website see that your website isn’t very popular they may move on to find a website that’s more popular. The reason for this is that they’ll likely think you don’t have as good content as other websites have.

This tips are simply awesome. i have seen lot of web site that have website counter. I agree with you that its good to hide if we have less number of visits. I feel its good to show, if we have million visits . 🙂
Definitely stick to the basics when designing a website. Try to stay from a lot of distractions on the website, and use pleasing colors.
I always suggest all my clients to stay with the basics and keep it simple. Great websites can be created with basic and simple stuff. Plus search engine spiders really struggle to understand complicated websites containing things like flash, etc.
I personally don’t really even understand why some webmasters show a website counter on their sites. A lot of visitors don’t necessarily guarantee you will have a lot of sales/leads. Most of them may be non-targeted and not even interested in what you offer. Plus there are many services offering thousands of “visitors” for cheap. Which in reality it’s just bots. Most people (unethical) I have seen doing it is if they are planning on selling their websites and want to impress potential buyers claiming their sites are very popular.
You shared some nice tips here .Thanks for sharing. The more value your website offers to the visitors, the more effective it is considered. The web designer has to ensure that the web site justifies the client’s requirements as well as solves the very purpose of creating it.
